Thunderbird Tip: Import and Export Mail Filters

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

It can be quite a task to run Thunderbird on more than one computer and even running Thunderbird on one computer with more than one mail account can cause some problems. Filters are one of the problems that you can run into. Mail filters can be global filters that filter all incoming mails or mail account filters which only filter mails that are send to the account in question.

The Thunderbird add-on Thunderbird Message Filter Import/Export makes it easy to export mail filters from one account or computer and import those mail filters to another computer or mail account easily. This ensures that all mail accounts work with the same filters which gets rid of the learning process.

The add-on adds an Export Filters button to the Tools > Message Filters window. Just select the account that you want to export filters from and click on the Export Filters button. Filters are imported in the Tools > Import filters menu.
