Major League Gaming & Sony offer competitive play, big prizes in Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena

Major League Gaming and Sony Mobile want mobile game players to do more than just shoot and destroy things when playing their favorite titles; they want players to shoot and destroy each other’s high scores. Sony announced today that it is launching the Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena, a competitive network for select games that creates leaderboards and competitions with cash prizes. The Xperia Mobile Gaming Arena tracks player performance in a particular category – kills or wins, for instance – and then compares that against others who have entered the arena. Gameloft’s Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation is the first game to incorporate the XMGA. Players can participate by linking their MLGid and Gameloft Live ID and then start the multiplayer mode in Modern Combat 3 on any device capable of running it. Stats are automatically uploaded MLG, and the winner of the first competition running from May 3 – 20, 2012 will receive $1,000 USD.

N.O.V.A. 3 for Android trailer shows Halo influence [video]

Gameloft just caught a sale before the game is even out. I’m talking about N.O.V.A. 3, and their new gameplay trailer is mouth watering in a couple of different ways. For starters, these are some damn good graphics for a mobile game. While most developers aim to develop for the largest group of phones possible, Gameloft wasn’t afraid to push things to the limit. And to top off what should be fun shooter gameplay, you can tell the team drew a lot of inspiration from Halo.

Draw Something numbers nosedive. Has it been erased from your app drawer? [POLL]

Draw Something ‘s meteoric rise was nothing short of amazing. The Pictionary-copying game got rave reviews and managed more than 20 million downloads within five weeks of its February debut, which eventually led to Zynga acquiring its developer OMGPop. But alas, even meteors fall, and so is Draw Something. The Atlantic , citing data gathered by AppData , claims that the number of people who use Draw Something through Facebook’s connect has dropped – down to 10.4 million from 14.3 million.
