Awesome Wallpaper is a gallery app filled with awesome wallpapers for Android [Review]

Androinica.com recently reviewed the Best Android wallpaper apps and highlighted the best apps that offer wallpapers for phones and tablets. Had the article been published a few weeks later, it would have included Awesome Wallpaper . The name says it all: Awesome Wallpaper is an Android app full of photos, artwork, and images for your home screen that are awesome. The app doesn’t advertise a ball park figure of how many images are available, but I’ve spotted a great deal of them in the 43 categories based on black and white photography, landscapes, athletes, abstract images, animals, nature, cars, artwork, patterns, and much, much, more. More important than the numbers of images that I spotted are the quality of said images and how simple it is to find them. Awesome Wallpaper selections are curated, so most of the junk and bad design that appears in so many wallpaper apps aren’t crowding the app.

Game Insight to launch new ”Rule the Kingdom” free action RPG title for Android in April

Paradise Island, My Railway, My Clinic, My Country, Airport City, Crime Story. If any or all of these titles sound familiar, you should keep an eye on Google Play (it still sounds weird, I know) next month, as the developer behind the success of those aforementioned games is preparing another exciting launch. Game Insight (that’s the name of the developer for those of you who have been living on Mars these past months) will release ‘’Rule the Kingdom’’ sometime in April, according to DroidGamers.com and the game looks set to surprise us all, as it marks an important change in theme from the previous titles. Rule the Kingdom will therefore be Game Insight’s first honest to God action RPG title and, even though it will feature city building functions as well, will concentrate on completing missions, slaying monsters and beasts and collecting money and treasures. Over 1,000 different quests and 12 different campaigns will be featured in Rule the Kingdom and, despite the fact that the game looks pretty complex, it will in fact continue Game Insight’s very ‘’healthy’’ tradition and will be made available for free.

Control the FM airwaves with the new free Jelli Android app

FM radio used to be one of the coolest features you could get on a mobile phone a few years back and was also the number one way of listening to the newest and hippest music back in my day. Times have changed, technology has rapidly advanced and most of you have forgotten about what it’s like to listen to the radio. However, there’s a new free Android app available starting today and it promises to make FM radio cool again by making it more interactive than ever. The app is called Jelli and has been available for iPhone and Facebook before being finally unleashed onto Google Play. How does the app work? Well, as a matter of fact, there’s several ways to have fun with Jelli, which is not something that I say very often when talking about a free app

Shogun – Abandon all hope, ye who enter Bullet Hell [Game Review]

Smooth. How many shoot’em ups (shmup) have there been for Android? A few top-down shooters and a few side-scrollers to be sure. Now, how many of those ran without hiccups? The last question definitely limits the competition, and when we’re talking about an actual “screen-full” of bullets, nothing competes with Shogun

5 ways to make your Computer Faster: Windows

fast-computer-rocket-windows8

1. Remove spyware, and help protect your computer from viruses

Spyware collects personal information without letting you know and without asking for permission. From the websites you visit to user names and passwords, spyware can put you and your confidential information at risk. In addition to privacy concerns, spyware can hamper your computer’s performance.

2. Free up disk space

The Disk Cleanup tool helps you to free up space on your hard disk to improve the performance of your computer. The tool identifies files that you can safely delete and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files.

Use Disk Cleanup to:

  • Remove temporary Internet files.

  • Delete downloaded program files, such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets.

  • Empty the Recycle Bin.

  • Remove Windows temporary files, such as error reports.

  • Delete optional Windows components that you don’t use.

  • Delete installed programs that you no longer use.

  • Remove unused restore points and shadow copies from System Restore.

Typically, temporary Internet files take the most amount of space because the browser caches each page you visit for faster access later.

3. Speed up access to data

Disk fragmentation slows the overall performance of your system. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk as a file is opened (to piece it back together). The response time can be significantly longer.

Disk Defragmenter (sometimes shortened to Defrag by users) is a Windows utility that consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer’s hard disk so that each occupies a single space on the disk. With your files stored neatly end to end, without fragmentation, reading and writing to the disk speeds up.

4. Detect and repair disk errors

In addition to running Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter to optimize the performance of your computer, you can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the Error Checking utility.

As you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing (such as file saving) difficult or even impossible. The Error Checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors and scans for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced.

If you use your computer daily, you should run this utility once a week to help prevent data loss.

5. Learn about ReadyBoost

If you’re using Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use ReadyBoost to speed up your system. A new concept in adding memory to a system, it allows you to use non-volatile flash memory—like a USB flash drive or a memory card—to improve performance without having to add additional memory.

Free Apps to Clone Your Hard Drive

Hard drive prices are so low now that it really makes sense to use an imaging program. That way you’ve got a perfectly cloned backup of your system exactly the way you have it configured in case of a crash, which is much more convenient than reinstalling Windows, activating, and loading all your applications all over again.
Here are four great apps to get the job done – without spending a dime!
