What do David Beckham, the Olympic anthem “Bugler’s Dream,” and the Samsung Galaxy Note have in common? If you answered “a newly leaked advertising tie-in for the upcoming Olympic Games to be held in London,” well, you’d be correct. Samsung teased the new TV spot on its Facebook page earlier today, but the full ad subsequently leaked to the internet, initially appearing on Twitter. Along with the ad Samsung is teasing something for March 22nd.

I’ve often overlooked ugly Android apps because they performed well enough. But as time passed and more apps emerged that are just as pretty as they are functional, it’s become hard to put up with apps that aren’t easy on the eyes. Solid Explorer has found that balance between beauty and power to quickly become my favorite Android file explorer, and it’s not even out of beta yet. Solid Explorer is an Android 2.2+ app that looks incredible. The app features a white-to-gray gradient design with great icons and sensible menus that put the cluttered look of other apps to shame.

We visited Huawei’s booth in hopes of finding some new Android goods, but we’re sad to say that wasn’t the case. We did decide to play with some older (well, old in terms of being announced) devices — the Huawei Ascend P1 (and, by extension, the P1s) and the Huawei D Quad. The latter, of course, houses a quad-core processor that was developed by Huawei themselves alongside 1GB of RAM, a 4.5 inch HD display and more. The Ascend P1, on the other hand, is a smaller phone in every sense of the word. It’s one of the thinnest phones coming in at 7.68 inches. These phones were introduced at CES and Mobile World Congress with stock Android 4.0.4, but Huawei’s made some changes to the interface since.

Kyocera came to CTIA with a device that has a slide-out 4-row QWERTY keyboard that’s very comfortable to use. It’s getting a bit rare to see that in this day and age, so it caught my eye for a quick second. It shares a lot of characteristics from its keyboard-less cousin Hydro, but it differs in a one or two other areas. For starters, this device is not water proof at all. So we’ve finally tracked down the Samsung Galaxy S3. None of us could get to London to see it unveiled for the first time but Samsung surprised us when they brought it to Pepcom, a side event here at CTIA in New Orleans. I was hardly able to contain my excitement when I saw it, and getting my hands on it for the first was like the day I finally stepped into the 3D era of gaming by buying the original Playstation. Hardware I would be lying if I said I had no problems with the design of the phone. That’s not to say that I have many problems, though.

The HTC One V lives! Hands-on part two from CTIA 2012 [video]

If you remember back at Mobile World Congress, HTC had the One V out for all to see… except it was just a prototype. We were allowed to play with the device but there wasn’t much to do but look. We decided to see if the device made any progress, and lo and behold: the video you see above proves that it has a heart. Despite being a One phone, the One V doesn’t house an S4 processor. It instead houses Qualcomm’s S3 processor, a dual-core offering that is still enough to run Sense 4.0 and Android 4.0 without too much of an issue. At the time of this writing, the device’s software either wasn’t near completion or HTC had to gimp the device to make work smoothly
