Sprint Guardian combines Lookout and Safely to find lost phones and monitor your child’s phone

Sprint announced today that it would soon deliver two bundled services designed to increase the safety of family members and protect the devices that they own. The Sprint Guardian service will combine the features of Safely and Lookout, giving subscribers the option to purchase premium versions of both apps or sign-up only for one. Guardian will allow Sprint customers to protect up to five lines with a variety of services ranging from tracking lost phones to locking phones when driving. “Sprint is pleased to be the first in the industry to unify innovative safety and security applications from Safely and Lookout in two simple bundles at a great value for our customers,” said

I recently reviewed an app that some readers expressed concerns about permission requests and its use of ads in the notification window. While I often warn about checking permissions prior to installing, I wasn’t concerned with this particular app being a threat. But if you want to be more cautious and stay informed about what type of data your apps may have access to, AppBrain has released a new app to aid that effort. AppBrain Ad Detector is a free utility that scans Android devices to locate apps that might “Concern” users. That includes anything from discovering which apps send advertisements outside of the app to those that can access accounts or contacts.
